Liz has been a math and science teacher in Seattle and Wichita and a past Vice President of Middle Schools for the Kansas Association of Teachers of Mathematics. Prior to her position as a professional development specialist at Curriculum Associates, Liz was a K-12 math coordinator for Wichita Public Schools. During the transition to the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards she developed math training “clinics” for district teachers, which developed into a state-wide training program through the Kansas State Department of Education. Her specialty is helping K-12 math educators interpret the progressions in the standards through interactive workshops using models, tools, manipulatives and mathematical discourse. She has been a frequent speaker at NCTM and NCSM annual conferences showcasing the math progressions work.
