John Wolters

John teaches sixth grade in Manhattan and has done so for decades. The last decade has been in a departmentalized program where he teaches three classes each day. Prior to that he taught all the subjects in a self-contained setting. Many times in June he has been found teaching 1st through 8th graders math and science and most recently STEM related classes during his district’s summer sessions. He was nominated in 2012 and 2014 for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST) award. He was the Manhattan-Ogden Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2016-2017 school year, subsequently being recognized as a Region 1 Semi-finalist in the Kansas Teacher of the Year program. John greatly cherishes the opportunities he has to do math with his students!
