Melissa Fast, M.S., serves as the Mathematics and MSP Consultant at the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE). In her 20 year career in education she has served as an adjunct instructor at Neosho County Community College, classroom teacher of mathematics grades 6-12, and worked in higher education administration. Melissa has led and collaborated on a wide-range of curriculum development and professional development projects. In her position at KSDE she has overseen the funding, operations, and reporting process of over 25 Mathematics and Science Partnership grants. Furthermore, she provides training to K-12 teachers throughout the state of Kansas in the area of mathematics and pedagogy. Most recently she worked with the Math Standards Review Committee to get the 2017 Mathematics Standards adopted by the State Board of Education. Her passion is to empower teachers to have the necessary skills to assist Kansas students in becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
